Manoj Narang is the founder and CEO Mana Partners LLC. Mr. Narang was previously the founder, CEO, and Chief Investment Strategist of Tradeworx, Inc, where he created and managed the firm’s HFT and quant hedge fund businesses. At Tradeworx, Mr. Narang spearheaded the sale of the firm’s market access platform to Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the sale of the MIDAS system to the Securities and Exchange Commission. He also directed the firm’s participation in the bidding for high-profile industry projects such as CAT (Consolidated Audit Trail), OPRA, and SIP.
Mr. Narang’s accomplishments were recognized by Institutional Investor magazine, where he was named one of the top 40 trading technology executives worldwide for three consecutive years in 2014, 2015, and 2016. He was also named one of “Seven Major Players in High Frequency Trading” by CNBC. An internationally recognized expert in algorithmic and quantitative trading, Mr. Narang has frequently been invited by numerous major Wall Street firms to address and advise their top buy-side clients on the topics of market structure and trading technology. He has provided expert testimony on market structure and regulation before the US Senate, and has met with dozens of Commissioners, Division heads, and other high-ranking officials of regulatory and policy-making agencies worldwide. In 2016, Mr. Narang and his brother Rishi co-moderated a large gathering of industry experts at DARPA’s Workshop on Financial Terrorism.
Mr. Narang has also guest lectured classes on quantitative trading at many of the nation’s leading universities and business schools, including MIT (Sloan), NYU (Stern), and Yale. Mr. Narang has been a frequent guest on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, has been quoted and interviewed hundreds of times in the financial press, including several front-page articles in the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and Washington Post. He has been featured on the covers of Traders Magazine (May 2014 issue) and Institutional Investor magazine (June 2010 issue), for whom he has also guest-authored several articles. Notable broadcast appearances included feature stories on 60 Minutes, Nova, and RadioLab, and a widely-cited debate with best-selling author Michael Lewis in May 2014 on Bloomberg TV. Prior to founding Tradeworx, Mr. Narang worked in quantitative trading at Goldman Sachs, Citibank, and Credit Suisse. He received his BS in Math and Computer Science from MIT in 1991.
