Gareth is an engineer by training and has a PhD in expert systems (a branch of artificial intelligence). He is a CFA Charterholder and has 14 years of experience in risk and asset management. He also holds a Certificate in Value Investing from Columbia University.
Before entering finance he developed knowledge acquisition software to tackle classification problems in epidemiology. In 2003 he began applying quantitative tools at Insurance Australia Group ($12BN AUM). He was awarded a UN Assoc. triple-bottom line award and was granted a World Economic Forum Fellowship (WEF/Davos), completing a Masters degree with Columbia University, London Business School and INSEAD.

G2’s system applies the latest in machine learning and artificial intelligence to stock selection. Specifically, the firm applies Deep Learning technology to rich datasets of fundamental, governance, technical and macro factors to identify predictive patterns.

Analysed exposure to market and portfolio risk, including scenario analysis and stress testing of equity portfolios. Successfully implemented proprietary quantitative tools for fundamental stock selection.
